DIY CAT BEANIE

Channel your inner feline with a cool DIY Cat Beanie. This “no sew” project is so simple and just purrrfect for fall. (Sorry I couldn’t resist!)

I originally made this for myself, but as you can see my daughter (who’s obsessed with cat’s) quickly snatched it up. So I guess I’ll be making another one!

TOOLS & MATERIALS:

• Beanie
• Felt
• Aleene’s Fabric Fusion Tape
• Scissors

step 1
Layout your felt with one piece on top of the other.

Cutting your two pieces out at the same time makes sure that they are both the same size and shape.

Cut out a total of 4 triangles.

With 2 of your triangles together, trim your sides to round them out and bring them in a little.

Do this for both ears.

Using your fabric fusion tape “glue” your 2 pieces of felt together. Do this for both ears.

Pinch your ears together in the center and create a little fold.

Use a small piece of fabric fusion tape to hold this fold together.

Try your hat on and check the placement of the ears.

I recommend you do this before gluing the ears to the hat.

Use a thin strip of fabric fusion tape across the bottom of the ears to attach them to the hat.

Press them firmly onto your hat to make sure they stay. (I lightened this photo to make it easier to see the black ears on the black hat.)

Of course you always have the option to sew the ears together and to the hat, but it’s really nice to know that a quick and easy alternative exists. I’ve found that this fabric fusion tape holds really well. I have to say I was quite shocked, but really happy!

As I always tell my daughter “Knowledge is power”, it’s never too early to learn to be a Girlboss (great book by the way, if you haven’t read it I highly recommend it)!
