What youll need to make your 4th of July Tote Bag:
- 1 Tote bag – preferably with blue or red straps – I used a tote from Trader Joes Market
- Red and white striped fabric
- Red fabric paint
- White fabric paint
- Large #4 template download here
- Small 4th template download here
- Needle and thread
Step 1
Down load both your large #4 template and your 4th template, print them out, I recommend using a heavier card stock. Cut out both of your stencils. Set them aside.
Step 2
Measure your red and white striped fabric and pin it to the center section of your tote bag.
Step 3
Using your needle and thread hand sew your red and white striped fabric to your tote bag.
Do this for both sides.
Step 4
Starting with your red paint pour some in a small dish. Take your “4th†stencil and place it on one side of your tote. I like the way it looks when it gets cut off a bit, play around with your placement. Then using either a brush or a sponge start painting your “4th†design through the stencil.
Wait for it to dry before flipping your bag over to paint the other side.
Step 5
Take your Large “4†template and place it on the opposite side of your tote bag from your red “4thâ€.
Wait for it to dry before flipping your bag over to pain the other side.
This 4th of July tote is perfect for carrying all your stuff to the beach or where ever your plans take you. My family and I will be traveling cross country this 4th of July holiday, as we are moving (thats the reason for the slow down in posts). I always forget how much time it takes to get everything ready for a big move. Follow me on facebook and twitter to stay updated with pics and info of our big road trip. And wish us luck and I promise to get back up to speed with my DIY projects as soon as were settled.
In the mean time leave a comment and let me know how your 4th of July tote bag turns out.
HAPPY 4TH OF JULY!
xoxo
