MAKE A TASSEL >
My inspiration to make this DIY Tassel Necklace comes from the bohemian inspired clothes and accessories for spring and summer. (Oh and these two cute tassel necklaces too!) I just love a good tassel!
TOOLS & MATERIALS:
- Leather lace
- End cap
- 2 jump rings
- Needle and thread
- Pliers
- Scissors
- Beads
step 1
Using your needle and thread start stringing your beads.
You will want to make 4 or 5 strings of beads, depending on your beads. I used 65 beads for each string and I made 5 strings. Each string is about 8 inches long.
I recommend tying a knot around the first bead and stacking the next few beads on top of your end thread. You can see this in the photos below, it will help to hide your end.
step 2
When you have added all the beads you want to your string, loop around the last bead and tie a knot.
The loop around your bead and run your thread through your beads to hide your end.
Do this for all 5 of your strings of beads.
step 3
Open one of your jump rings and place it around all 5 of your strings of beads, in the center.
Be sure to close it tightly, even overlap it if necessary to keep the strings from slipping out.
step 4
Using your needle and thread, sew this jump ring (with the strings of beads) up through the hole in the top of your end cap to your second jump ring on the outside top of your end cap.
Be sure to make this very tight and secure, sew around several times.
Tie off your end securely.
step 5
Run your leather lace through the top jump ring.
Tie a knot in the top of your leather lace.
Just as another idea, when I was getting ready to take this photo, this beaded collar DIY works perfectly with this tassel necklace. Its a fun and unexpected mix.
You can make this DIY Tassel Necklace in less than an hour (depending on your beads). Its a fun and quick project and a great accessory.
I’m so loving your work! Learn on this page how making DIY Tassel Necklace. It’s truly a nice and helpful piece of information.
Hello! I am a librarian in Texas and my patrons love jewelry programs and I found your blog while searching online. I would love to do a workshop to make this necklace (I have already credited your blog in my worksheet), but wanted to ask if it would be okay to use one of the necklace. I am having trouble finding an image of this type of necklace that has a public license. I would be using the picture on the publicity sign I create for the workshop. Love your blog! Thank for your consideration!
