Studded bags are everywhere for spring and so are bright colors. Get the best of both with this quick and simple Studded Bag DIY. Be sure to check out the video too!
LET’S ADD SOME STUDS >
Be sure to check out the video for more detailed instructions.
Supplies to make your Studded Bag DIY:
- 1 Bag
- 1 or 2 Packages of studs or nail heads (mine are from M & J Trim)
- Pliers (optional depending on your studs)
- Glue – I used E 6000
- Ruler
- Sharpie
step 1
I recommend that you find studs or nail heads with a flat back for this project. However, if you cant find them with a flat back or youre like me and just happen to have this type of studs with prongs, you can still easily make this project.
If your studs or nail heads have a flat back you can skip this step.
If yours have prongs read on…
Make sure that your pliers are smooth on the inside, you dont want to make marks on your studs.
Carefully bend your prongs in to form a flat back as you can see in the photo. Check out the video to see this in action.
step 2
Using your ruler and your sharpie measure and mark on your bag where you want to glue your studs.
I followed the lines of my bag and then filled in a section on one side.
The style of bag you use will help to determine where you place your studs.
Once youve made your marks youre ready to start gluing.
Place a small drop of your glue on your bag and press your stud into the glue.
Continue until you have added all the studs you want.
Use this DIY to upcycle a bag you may already have or enhance a new one with this quick and simple Studded Bag DIY.
Where you add the studs is up to you and the design of your bag.

This is totally brilliant! I gave myself a mental headslap for all the times I have done projects and very inpatiently squeezed all those prongs shut through the fabric! Your way is so much better!!! Thank you!
Thanks Robin!
I know what you mean, I’ve done that too. With the right glue this is much faster and looks and holds the same.
