Hats are one of my favorite accessories, there’s just this coolness about a hat and when I see other girls wearing hats I’m always so in awe of their style. So while my jury is still out as to whether or not I can really rock a hat, I love trying new hat styles and adding cool embellishments to them, like this DIY Cap with Chains. This is a super easy project and a great way to take a basic hat and turn it up a notch!
I was inspired to embellish this cap after seeing this hat by Eugenia Kim. I just love the subtle, yet bold chain detail. The best part about this project is that it can be made in about 10-15 minutes (or however long it takes you to sew a few stitches)! Click through to get started!
Supplies you’ll need:
- Hat
- 18 “ of Heavy chain
- 2 Buttons
- Needle & thread
step 1
Sew one end of your heavy chain to the side of your hat.
step 2
Fold your chain in half and sew the other end on top of the first chain you sewed.
step 3
Sew the other end of your chain to the other side of your hat.
step 4
Sew a button over the each end of your chains.
Personalize your hat with unique buttons or try gold chain instead of silver.
Leave me a comment and let me know how your hat turns out.
Love the way it looks and if that’s your face with your new hat, you “rock” your hat. This is my first visit to your site, thank you for sharing! Jen
